Autumn Festival in Paris
Theater, performance, visual arts, music, dance, cinema: all the arts are brought together for the Paris Autumn Festival, which will be held from September 10 to December 31. It's impossible not to find what you're looking for in this eclectic and abundant program, a true international showcase of contemporary arts.
Open the program: you will find about fifty artistic events scattered throughout the capital. Every year, the Festival d'automne weaves partnerships with Parisian and Ile-de-France venues that are likely to host its shows. The Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe, the MC93, the Centre Pompidou, the Théâtre de Chelles, the Philharmonie de Paris and the CENTQUATRE-Paris are among them.
Since 2012, the Festival d'Automne has devoted "Portraits" to outstanding figures of the international scene. This year, the three artists honored are Merce Cunningham, La Ribot and Claude Vivier. The first is an American dancer and choreographer, to be discovered on September 28 and 29, around a creation at the Centre national de la danse, workshops and screenings. The second is the dancer and choreographer La Ribot, a major figure of the plastic dance. From September 14, several dates are dedicated to her. Finally, the last one is the composer Claude Vivier to whom the concert of September 19 pays tribute.
If you are a fan of contemporary art, the Autumn Festival can only delight you, a marvelous opportunity for discovery and openness, for exchange. If you are a novice, or even a little reluctant, then seize this opportunity offered to you to meet an art often badly known, badly liked also, because badly understood. Paris, cultural capital, territory of creation, is more than ever the place designated to allow this confrontation between works, artists and public.
Autumn in Paris will be cultural or not!
